The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association proudly presents the inaugural Lago Mar Reunion Round-Up, coming to Texas City, TX on November 7-8, 2025
When the gates swing open at the Lago Mar Arena on the evening of November 7, 2025, rodeo fans from across the Texas Gulf Coast will witness the birth of what promises to become one of the region's most anticipated annual events. The inaugural Lago Mar Reunion Round-Up isn't just another stop on the PRCA circuit—it's a celebration of community, heritage, and the timeless traditions that make rodeo the heartbeat of Texas culture.
Set against the backdrop of Texas City's growing Lago Mar community, this two-day rodeo extravaganza brings together world-class competitors, $70,000 in prize money, and a weekend full of family-friendly entertainment that extends far beyond the arena dirt.
"The Texas Circuit has always been home to some of the most passionate rodeo fans and talented competitors in the country," notes a senior PRCA representative. "Adding the Lago Mar Reunion Round-Up to our 2026 season calendar gives our athletes another opportunity to showcase their skills while connecting with the community in a meaningful way."
With $70,000 in prize money on the line, the Lago Mar Reunion Round-Up has already attracted attention from top competitors across the Southern Region. As a PRCA-sanctioned event, fans can expect to see elite athletes competing in all seven traditional rodeo events:
Bull Riding: Perhaps the most electrifying eight seconds in sports, bull riding will feature fearless cowboys attempting to conquer some of the rankest bulls in Texas. The explosive combination of 2,000-pound bovine athletes and determined cowboys creates a spectacle of controlled chaos that never fails to bring crowds to their feet.
Saddle Bronc Riding: Often called rodeo's classic event, saddle bronc riding tests a cowboy's technical skill and grace as they match moves with specially-bred bucking horses. With one hand in the air and the other controlling a single rein, these athletes demonstrate the perfect balance of control and abandon.
Bareback Riding: The most physically demanding event in rodeo requires cowboys to ride with a specialized rigging and no saddle while powerful horses unleash their full bucking potential. The jarring impacts and dramatic spurring make this event a true test of physical endurance and mental toughness.
Steer Wrestling: Watch as cowboys leap from horseback onto running steers in a display of timing, strength, and coordination that must be seen to be believed. These "bulldoggers" regularly stop 500-pound animals in their tracks in less than five seconds.
Team Roping: The only true team event in rodeo pairs a header and heeler in a precision performance that showcases the working partnership between cowboys and their horses. Success requires flawless communication and split-second timing.
Tie-Down Roping: Combining speed, skill, and livestock handling expertise, this event highlights the practical ranching skills that gave birth to rodeo competition. Watch as cowboys sprint from horseback to demonstrate their roping and tying abilities.
Barrel Racing: The arena will thunder with hoofbeats as skilled cowgirls and their equine partners navigate the cloverleaf pattern with blazing speed and precision turns. This event showcases the incredible athleticism and partnership between horse and rider.
While the rodeo action forms the heart of the weekend, the Lago Mar Reunion Round-Up offers entertainment for every member of the family from the moment the gates open each day.
Mutton Bustin': Young cowboys and cowgirls between ages 4-7 can test their riding skills on sheep in this adorable crowd favorite. Pre-registration is recommended as spots fill quickly for this pint-sized version of bull riding.
Live Music: After the final event each evening, the arena transforms into a concert venue featuring Texas country artists performing the perfect soundtrack to your rodeo weekend. Friday night kicks off with regional favorites playing dance-worthy Texas country, while Saturday promises a headline act that will keep the celebration going well into the night.
Vendor Marketplace: The concourse surrounding the arena will host dozens of vendors offering everything from handcrafted Western jewelry and custom leather goods to authentic cowboy hats and boots. This shopping experience brings together some of the finest Western craftspeople in the region.
Food & Refreshments: No Texas gathering would be complete without outstanding food options. From traditional barbecue and Tex-Mex favorites to funnel cakes and fresh-squeezed lemonade, the culinary offerings reflect the diverse flavors of the Lone Star State.
Kids' Zone: A dedicated area for younger fans features pony rides, a petting zoo, face painting, and Western-themed games and activities. It's the perfect way to introduce the next generation to rodeo culture while giving them space to burn off energy between events.
The "Reunion" in Lago Mar Reunion Round-Up speaks to the event's deeper purpose. Beyond the competition and entertainment, this rodeo serves as a gathering point for the community—a place where neighbors become friends and where the shared experience of rodeo creates lasting connections.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit local youth agricultural programs, ensuring that the traditions and values of Western heritage continue to thrive in the next generation. Additionally, the event will showcase the achievements of area 4-H and FFA members, highlighting their contributions to agriculture and animal husbandry.
"Rodeo has always been about more than just the competition," explains a PRCA spokesperson. "It's about bringing communities together, preserving our Western heritage, and creating memories that last a lifetime. The Lago Mar Reunion Round-Up embodies all of these values."
